Lantern Publications is a publishing house dedicated to the propagation of the true teachings of Islam as expounded by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his holy progeny(s). Lantern publications intend to fulfil this objective by producing high quality, mainstream and verified print and/or electronic publications and distribute them via a network of distribution channels (within and outside the Shia community) worldwide. Lantern Publications, though it distribution arm, Shia Books Australia, has reached many parts of the world and has a repeatable and reliable distribution model that continues to grow by 70% a year.
Lantern Publications believes that the ‘ecosystem’ of publications for the sake of the Almighty, the Exalted must be mutually beneficial to all parties and that the spirit of wilayah is observed in all dealings. This includes transparency, honesty, full disclosure, clear communication, support and engagement.
Lantern publications wishes to use the best practice model to ensure that authors/translators can focus on what they do best, which is writing! The value proposition to authors is that in return for exclusive publishing rights they will get:
1- A personalized and dynamic relationship with the publisher where all parties are co-creators rather than hierarchical relationships that advantage one partly over the other. This means that during the editing, marketing and distribution processes, the authors/translators and publishers work dynamically together to ensure delivery (within the scope of an agreement). This is to ensure that authors/translators are able to exercise a level of autonomy.
2- Copyright Ownership – Authors/translators will retain the copyright for their work with some limitations.
3- Distribution of the book(s)- Lantern Publications has access to and continues to grow its presence within the Shia community world-wide. Additionally, books will be distributed though standard platforms (Amazon, Barnes and noble etc.) upon agreement with author/translator.
4- Printing, Cover design and where required illustration and typesetting- These services are provided as part of any agreement. This will allow authors/translators to focus on producing quality literary works whilst these issues are taken care of by a team of professional graphic artists, illustrators and printers.
5- Promotion and marketing- Lantern publications will market your publication (or will assist in the marketing) though a variety of media including but not limited to social media, website and mainstream media (where required). Lantern Publications will market your publication on its website giving each publication its own ‘page’ (which will include reviews, excerpts etc.).
